Requirements

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum GPA of 3.5
• Majoring in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, management, and other fields related to the personal finance industry
• Must be a U.S. resident
• Must attach an official, signed transcript with your submission
• Must be a current or future college student (e.g., high school senior)
• Scholarship must go to tuition purposes (will be paid directly to the university/college)
• Complete an essay for submission (see essay guidelines below)

• Applicants must be under the age of 23, as of July 31, 2026.
• Applicants must be actively pursuing postsecondary education/trade school.
•  Applicants must be eligible for McKinney-Vento assistance or have experienced homelessness* (while in school) within the last six years.
• Applicants must submit a letter from their McKinney-Vento liaison, verifying their eligibility.(Liaison should be from their current school district or the district from which they graduated.)
• Applicants may alternately provide eligibility verification from a school official, outreach worker, shelter provider, religious leader, or other homeless service provider, confirming current or former homeless status.
• Please note, undocumented students who meet the above criteria ARE eligible. However, previous recipients of a NAEHCY scholarship within the past three years are NOT eligible.

One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to help cover tuition, academic fees, and other educational expenses. Recipients are responsible for complying with all applicable IRS and state tax requirements. Full application and award details are outlined below.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

• Provide proof of acceptance into an accredited undergraduate program in pre-law or a related field, or proof of acceptance and enrollment in an accredited law school for the Fall of 2026.

• Demonstrate strong academic performance with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the undergraduate level.

• Is nominated by a local chapter of the PEO Sisterhood
• Is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the US or Canada at the time of her nomination
• At a minimum, has a bachelor’s degree
• Is within two years of her graduation date and has at least one full academic year of work remaining to complete her doctoral -level degree as measured from the time the first award payment is made (August 1). Those in a multiple-degree program (e.g., pursuing both an MD and a PhD) must be within two years of completing the entire program from that date.
• Is enrolled in her program at an accredited US or Canadian college of university. Study abroad is permitted provided the student is enrolled in a US or Canadian postsecondary institution. Remote learning is permissible.

The applications of individuals who satisfy these eligibility criteria will be evaluated on a nondiscriminatory basis without consideration of race, age, national origin, religious affiliation, disability or PEO connection.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR SCHOLAR AWARD OF $25,000.

• Nominee’s proposal
• Potential to make significant contributions in her field(s)of endeavor or to make a positive impact on society
• Recommendations from three university professors or professional mentors
• Evidence of scholarly activities (publications, presentations, patents, performances, etc.)
• Academic awards and honors (honor societies, scholarships, etc.)
• Academic record
• Career objectives
• Examples of individual leadership and cultural experiences

• A completed resume.
• A 1–3 page typed essay on a topic of their choice related to the area of law they intend to pursue.

Essay:
Students must write an essay between one and three pages in length on a topic of their choice related to an area of law that interests them.

Applicants to the Equitable Excellence Scholarship® Program must:

• Be current high school seniors and current undergraduates in one of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
• Demonstrate ambition and self-drive to be a force for good in your community by encouraging others to pursue higher education.
• Be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their achievements, along with photographs for use in program promotion and information.
• Have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

1. Must be a registered MSU Bozeman student with a 2.5  GPA 

2. Must be a sophomore or junior

3. Must demonstrate financial need, and display attributes of citizenship and character (e.g., volunteerism, campus involvement)
